I have been
making art quilts for twelve years. Although I began my art career as
a painter, I became increasingly dissatisfied working in two dimensions.
Fabric gives a three-dimensional quality to my images. Additional sculpting
is achieved with the use of thread in the quilting process which binds
the fabric layer to batting and backing. I love the texture of different
fabrics. I love the fact that, unlike traditional paintings, my quilts
can be folded, touched, handled. Through my quilts I conduct a conversation
with myself about life, nature, politics, and art, and I invite viewers
to join me in my explorations.
